La Strada Graz:

Of the poetry and diversity of everyday life

We were driven by the passion to bring art to the people very early on. We have always been interested in those artistic works that deal with the place and its inhabitants. For the desire to discover new perspectives, to explore the great themes of our time and the unbroken joy in the search for contemporary forms of artistic expression drive us as much as ever.

La Strada Graz is a cross-disciplinary festival, embracing the rich diversity of artistic forms and formats. It serves as a space for experimentation, both on stage and in public spaces, as well as in other uniquely chosen venues.

A retrospective: This was La Strada 2024

Discovering new Perspectives

The journey into La Strada 2024 has already begun early in summer this year: on June 1st, the audiovisual installation "Signal vom Dachstein" opened in the Marmorsaal of Schloss Trautenfels. Here, the perspectives of the participating artists of the project have been unified, after four years of intensive exploration of the Dachstein region. On June 2nd, Marie-Theres Härtel's magnificent composition "Dachsteinklang" premiered at the Türlwandhütte at the foot of the Dachstein's southern wall. Throughout late autumn, there have been further exciting and joyful events in the region: conversations, musical and literary inspirations, and premieres of artistic projects. All these endeavors share a profound engagement with essential questions of our time: Who will we become in the future, and how will we live together?
And we have great news: After the winter break, the exhibition Signal vom Dachstein at Schloss Trautenfels will reopen for another season on April 11, 2025!

During the festival period, we have invited more artists to explore these contemporary topics. The French-Catalan group Baro d'evel invited us to a poetic quest between circus and dance with their production "QUI SOM?" at the Opera of Graz. The Compagnie Dyptik, with their energetic and joyful approach, challenged perceptions and explored how we can experience a day of celebration in challenging times. Visitors at Karmeliterplatz experienced Galmae's project, where unraveling a network of strings prompted reflection on community. Together with the artists, our goal remains to shift our perspective toward the new, as well as the hidden.

Thank you for the inspiring moments we've shared – we continue to look forward to an inspiring time with you.
